Why Play Block Casual

We wanted to develop a “wide” format, by which we mean a format with the largest possible number of valid decks for people to play. Too often it feels like standard, pauper, modern, and legacy formats devolve into a handful of established deck-lists with minimal variation.

The idea of selecting one block to build from, means that players have to work creatively within a limited cardpool, while still allowing playing cards from the entire history of Magic.

Have you ever had on of those Drafts where the archetype you wanted to play was wide open and you ended up with a great deck. Well that’s what we wanted block casual to feel like when you play it.
